Efforts are underway in St. Louis to erect an 8-foot statue honoring native son and rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry. The cause is being spearheaded by Joe Edwards, owner of the landmark restaurant and music club, Blueberry Hill, and KMOX radio host, Charlie Brennan.
The statue of Berry, who still lives and performs in St. Louis, will be placed on Delmar Boulevard in University City. Harry Weber, sculptor of Lewis and Clark, Bob Gibson, Doug Flutie, and others is creating this bronze work.
This statue will recognize the achievements of the man who spread a musical revolution from the streets of St. Louis to Europe and Asia and beyond. more . . .
